Generic actor-to-actor exchange
A2A exchange networks actually comprise several general types of exchange, as well as types of exchange institutions. In Chapter 8, we show how these A2A exchange networks assemble themselves into more holistic service ecosystems. However, for now and as a way to begin to understand A2A exchange, it is helpful to review three general types of exchange among human actors. It is also useful to discuss three institutions that human actors have developed to facilitate exchange, in addition to a fourth institution that can be thought of as a hybrid.
